It does not begin with the idea
that you are a brain, a neural net or
a chemical compound.
It begins with your understanding of the first definition.
The definition of you!
There is one single thing in this world on which all success depends.
It is powerful beyond imagining, yet remains invisible to the naked eye. It has no weight, no form, no fixed location.
It can be squashed, but it can grow back bigger and stronger.
It is the most creative, resilient, and limitless thing in this universe. It can take nothing and turn it into the greatest achievements imaginable.
Many very smart people will try to tell you it doesn’t exist.
Here is what it is not:
A brain, or a biochemical compound, or a computer network that has suddenly come alive.
Creativity, imagination, compassion, power of choice, and responsibility are not the qualities of an algorithm, an electronic device, or biochemistry.
Here is what it is:
It is that unit of being which is the individual. It is aware of being aware. It possesses power of choice. It is the source of creativity and imagination. It has virtually limitless potential.
It can help its fellows. It can assume responsibility for things large or small. It has compassion.
It has come to be identified with the body or the brain but this is false.
The only true barriers to its freedom lie within it.
It doesn’t have a soul, it is one.
It has its own relationship with the Creator.
